A few of the text entries about deaths in the month of June, 2006  (chronology runs top to bottom)

  US deaths in June: 61
Total Coalition deaths in June: 63
Spreadsheet (below) showing all Coalition deaths in Iraq for June.

Here are a few of the picture-stories we shared about June casualties (complete archiving did not begin until July 1):

Christopher Rose's parentsSaturday, July 01, 2006 8:13 AM - The DoD has released the identity of the soldier who died in an IED attack south of Baghdad Christopher D. Rose, 21, of San Francisco, Californiaon June 29th: Spc. Christopher D. Rose, 21, of San Francisco, California.

Tuesday, July 04, 2006 3:44 PM - Several media articles have now appeared announcing the death of US Army Sgt. James Muldoon, 23, of Bells, Texas, in Iraq last Thursday, June 29th. An article on the KXII.com website states that Sgt. Muldoon died in "northern Iraq" ... and identifies his unit as the "368th Cavalry," 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson, CO.  Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a "368th Cavalry."  The reporter might have been refering to the 1st Battalion of the 68th Armored Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 4th ID out of Fort Carson ... a unit that is operating north of Baghdad.  A lengthy article that includes interviews with his wife and father can be found at the Herald Democrat website.

UPDATE Friday, July 07, 2006 7:35 AM -
(1) The DoD has formally confirmed the name of a soldier who died on June 29th in Iraq: Sgt. James P. Muldoon, 23, of Bells, Texas.
(2) An Associated Press article from July 6th has added more information on the death of Marine Rex Page who died on June 28th in Iraq. His actual place of death was apparently the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany where he had been flown after being severely wounded in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Also, up until now Page's rank has been given as Private 1st Class. But this article refers to him as a Lance Corporal. He could have received a posthumous promotion, but we've yet to see formal evidence of that.

UPDATE Sunday, July 09, 2006 5:36 AM - The Los Angeles Times published a nicely done piece today on Cpl. Luis Daniel Santos who died in Iraq last month on June 8th. He has apparently been posthumously promoted to Corporal.

HOUSEKEEPING Monday, July 10, 2006 2:39 PM - 10 days have elapsed since we posted a death on June 30th for which the DoD has never come up with a name.  It certainly sounded like a legitimate notice in the Washington Post.  But, mistakes happen.  It's time to clean house now and completely delete it.  The chart for June, 2006, is what we consider 'final form'.  It won't change unless we happen to hear of someone getting a posthumous promotion, or a cause of death is clarified, etc.

The current time in Iraq is..
